Maureen and I spent the weekend in Paris celebrating our 10th anniversary. On the Friday evening as we were perusing the map we saw Parc Georges Brassens in the 15th
Arrondisement. As we were next door so to speak we decided to have a meander in that direction on Jakes birthday.

As parks go it was very clean and seemed to be very modern although the centre of the park was a Clock tower with a memorial to those that died in the 14-18 war also containing the conveniences!

There is a building just outside the park gates called Centre D’Animation Georges Brassen that seems to offer various workshops (dance, arts, crafts etc) but this was not open.

What are the chances of having a park named after Jake and where would it be?

I took a few pictures and will post on Yahoo if enough people want to see them.

So that is a rather longwinded way of saying why we were not online at 8pm Saturday last.

Looking forward to the North-west Fest

Regards

Dave

Sounds like the perfect way to have celebrated our man’s birthday, you lucky things! Happy Anniversary both!

What a busy time – Jake and Sue’s birthday, your anniversary – I have a niece, Sophie, with a birthday on 27th too, and my friend’s new grandson Dominic was born last Wednesday too! 🙂

Wouldn’t a park be a great memorial? Somewhere in Leeds? or the North Riding of Yorkshire/ Or Monmouth? Or what about poor old bloody Scarborough? 🙂

Site’s looking good Gordon!

Not really Mungo – Matty Forbes but as I’m in Jordan I forgot my login.

I agree Pam – a park, with a lake, with a statue of a young girl in it and a satue of Sir Robert Walpole on the shore.

Just listened to the featured clip and mp3 for the first time. The Cenotaph mp3 brought be close to tears – why can’t this be made available? Wonderful

The clips shouldn’t really be here at all. That’s why they don’t stay up for long. 🙁
I might add a poll with some different choices of clip and members can vote for which they would like. 🙂

That’s a smashing video featured at the moment. I so identify with Jake’s description of kids in the back of the car, sucking a thumb and a hand over the head, and if there’s lots of them they sometimes get the wrong head.

My third used to sit in his car seat in the middle of the back seat, with a bigger brother on each side, and suck his thumb and twiddle a strand of hair on his brother’s head. So-o-o nostalgic! I didn’t realise other children did the same – probably universally.

Oh dear – I’m getting teary eyed, and there isn’t a crying emoticon. I miss the old flushing-blushing one that we had on the other site too. And while I’m at it, a good strong purple in the colour range would be more useful than yellow. Sorry to be greedy, Gordon, you’re doing us proud!

I’ve just managed to see the video clip of the Widow of Brid. Brilliant! Thank you so much for putting it there.
I must visit more often and I will now that I have managed to change my password.
Belated birthday toast to Jake. Love Maggie

Nice to hear from you David! Actually I think it’s Jake’s 85th……….. but there’s now a brilliant biography written by Paul and John, and an equally brilliant double CD of masses of BBC TV appearances that most of us have never seen. His memory lives on!
