Edinburgh Jakefest Update

The Edinburgh Jakefest is booked for Saturday 18th September at the St. Brides Centre, Orwell Terrace, Edinburgh. Phil Neal and I have still to verify a couple of things which are going to incur costs and once we have that information we will be able to set a ticket price. Our current best guess is that we are 3 to 4 weeks away from setting the price (which will be set at ‘break even’ level to cover our costs with an allowance for contingencies).

Our intention is to make tickets available to members of this Board and the Yahoo and Topica lists in advance of local advertising but there will be local ticket sales and we are already attracting some interest – we were delighted to find that the manageress of the theatre has been a Jake fan since the days of Braden and is already looking forward to the show!

We are also going to arrange an open mic. night in a local pub on Friday 17th September for those who will have already arrived in the city. This is for those who would like to sing some Jake in congenial company but don’t want to get on a stage in front of a big audience or for our regular performers to play something other than Jake if they wish.

We already have a fine assemblage of performers for the Saturday evening from amongst those who have performed before and at least one newcomer, but there is still some space on the bill before the traditional baggsy list process starts; please contact me (Ian) privately if you have not previously performed at a Jakefest but would like to step forward to the mic. at some point in the weekend.
