      I’ve been scratching my head for years and i’m sure it is, but I still can’t find it….

      basically it was a humourous punny french/english song about….well I don’t know!

      Snippetts of lyrics I can remember are…..

      Paddington Euston and all lines beyond, for pete’s sake pees ouf!

      All along the….something…..j’ai entendu pees ouf

      Any ideas anyone?

        Ron,although I,for one,consider myself a huge fan of our eponymous hero I don’t claim to have an encyclopedic knowledge of everything with which he came up ! If this is one of his works then it’s news to me. Having said that,last year I posted something I was (and still am…)convinced Jake performed on "TISWAS" but I was,seemingly,in a minority of one in such conviction so you may well be right. I hope at least one of our members can come up with a more definite answer.

          In response to Funkyronster’s question – although I similarly cannot claim encyclopaedic knowledge of Jake’s songs – these lyrics don’t strike me as his style – possibly Flanders and Swann – but maybe a bit risque for their time. Could it be Benny Hill?

          In response to Hugh’s question – there is a new and growing comprehensive site about Tiswas and Jake’s name does not appear in the listings for "Musicians", "Comedians" or "Other Guests". They do however state that this is a work in progress and as such is incomplete. Here is the link to keep up with them:

                Just a quick update:having posted "Jake Thackray" on the "TISWAS" forum last Wednesday,there have been 50 viewings but no replies.I’m not quite sure what this indicates,if it indicates anything at all,but that’s the current situation.Should anything definite emerge then,rest assured,I’ll let you know (I’m still convinced that I didn’t just dream it……)

                    Not one of Jake’s – I think you’ll find it was sung by Derek Brimstone – one of Jake’s contemporaries on the folk scene in the 70’s/80’s – although I can’t confirm whether Derek wrote it.
