The smileys are on a work to rule. One out All Out!

Ah they appear to be working for me perhaps you didn’t ask nicely enough πŸ˜›

Okay, here goes, try again (pretty please……………)

nope, it seems. So what am I doing wrong then? (and what are you doing up at 3 o’clock in the morning??? or shouldn’t I ask….)

Is it because it says "HTML is disabled" just below the smileys? And if so, how do I re-enable them, or will they be entitled to free parking forever?

          B) πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚  😑 😑 πŸ˜› πŸ™  :y32b4: πŸ˜†

No idea what you’re doing wrong, Pam. The disabled HTML is not relevant. Are you perchance using a Mac? Mine used to refuse to insert an emoticon in already typed text, but was OK inserting them in situ while I was typing.

Try drafting a new message and clicking on an emoticon or two before you type anything, then try the preview.

I also clicked on "cancel" there, so that message wasn’t supposed to go………… I’ve marked up one of the topic icons, maybe that will show up.

errrm, shouldn’t this be on the off-topic forum really? Sorry folks!

I am up at 3am because the Great British motoring public have a habit of breaking down at all sorts of ungodly hours. I am normally finished by 0230 and not allowed to work after 0430 due to various driving hours regulations. So whilst most normal people are tucked up in bed I am driving around and picking up the pieces.

I love so many Jake lines but my favourite at the mo is:

She thundered off to cause a stir in poor old bloody Scarborough, she did, she did, she did, forget the spit and the window pane, bugger Brid! I’m still the same.

                    You’ve got to love it!

Could that be an example of going through life thinking the words of a song are one thing, when they’re different?? While I was locking up….
Welcome Alistair, thought I’d get you used to the idea that we’re incurable pedants from the word ‘go’.

Not to mention "jumped" (oh sorry, I did).

Good sentence, though, no doubt about that. Got a laugh at Torrington, too.

Please take this as another big welcome from an incurable pedant, Alistair.
