      Hi. Ian Pearce here.

I am an actor and storyteller. I have performed around the country for a number of years. I have written plays and scripts for radio four.

Having been a fan of Jake since I was very young,
I’m putting together a 55 minute show about Jake’s life as a performer. The show will feature me playing guitar and singing some of Jakes songs .

Hopefully this will appeal to lifelong fans as well as attracting new people into appreciating Jake . That’s the idea. My latest play on Radio 4 told the story of how legendary scriptwriters Galton and Simpson first met in 1948. My latest stage show was about how Slade drummer Don Powell survived a car crash in 1973.

I just wanted to contact Jake supporters and fans to find out what the feeling might be for a show like this. It’s not a tribute act but a story telling that hopefully takes you into his world. It’s important that I play the songs live though as , well it’s just more interesting. I have to say that for me as a performer it’s the most challenging aspect.

Wondering how people feel . Suggestions for a show title would be welcome.

      Thank you for reading .

        Hi Ian,

Thanks for your post. As you will have realised by now, the forum doesn’t get used a lot now. If you are on Facebook, seek out the Jake Thackray Appreciation page group, which has 500 members. I’m sure that people will welcome what you are seeking to do.

I’m the co-author of Jake’s biography. I also perform his songs (on Nadine, one of his old guitars) at concerts around the country, interspersing them with insights into his remarkable life. Audiences certainly love the combination. If you’d like to have a chat, you can contact me via my website, http://www.paulthompsonmusic.co.uk.
