With a connection to Brittany and a love of Georges Brassens, I am wondering if anyone knows where in Brittany Jake taught.

Also, I believe Jake wrote two articles for the BBC’s “The Listener” magazine in 1966

      1. What is a Prof?
      2. What is a Student?

If anyone can answer my questions, I will be truly grateful.

      Thankyou
      Didi

        Hi Didi,

Apologies for the slowness to answer your questions, but, as you will have guessed by now, the Forum is not much used now. If you are on Facebook, seek out the Jake Thackray Appreciation page, which has more than 500 followers.

Jake indeed had those two pieces published in The Listener. Both of them are in Jake Thackray – The Unsung Writer, an anthology of his prose and poetry which I edited and published last year. Details of the book are on my website: http://www.paulthompsonmusic.co.uk.

We unfortunately have no details at all of Jake’s movements in Brittany. We have the name of one school at which he taught in Lille, and he says that he also taught in Jesuit schools in Algeria. You can read more about this in the biography of which I am co-author, Beware of the Bull – The Enigmatic Genius of Jake Thackray.

        Best wishes
        Paul
