With songs about burglars disguised as nuns, unspeakably awful in-laws, village scallywags and rampant cockerels, all human (and animal) life is on show in this gala evening. Featuring:
THE JAKE THACKRAY SYNDROME – showcasing the brilliant comic songs of the late, great Jake Thackray. Lymm resident Paul Thompson is one of the foremost interpretors of Thackray’s outrageous oeuvre.
RUDOLF ROCKER PLAY THACKRAY AND BRASSENS – Cult group from Whitby who address Jake’s ‘French’ songs including his translations of the great chansonnier Georges Brassens.
BOB FISCHER – BBC Radio DJ and weird folk singer who delivers rollicking versions of Jake’s favourite numbers.
