Gordon,
Rather than have folks email you with questions and problems it seemed easier to start a new thread just for that topic since any problems encountered are likely to be common. So can I start off with some questions?
*My Profile page won’t let me upload an avatar. I’ve checked the size, dimensions and file type but nothing doing. Is it a bug or is it me?
*Will Brasso be back?
*Will you be copying over the old posts from teh other board?
Cheers
Ian
ps – I like the look and feel of this one.

24 December 2003 at 9:39 pm #3314is it possible to edit posts as we could on the old site? or will we have to live with our spooling mishtakes?
24 December 2003 at 9:59 pm #3315I see that we are all visitors and novices at that. Will there be a Jake reference later on ie thackling thackerite etc? What is the pupose of the grey bar with red on one end.
24 December 2003 at 10:00 pm #3316Hey I am now a junior boarder B)
24 December 2003 at 10:29 pm #3317I’ll try and answer the questions so far.
Will Brasso be back?
Yes. I was in a hurry to get the site on for today and have other bits I want to add.
Will you be copying over the old posts from the other board?
This is a difficult process but I aim to make the information posted on the old versions of the site available in some way. There will be a Brassens section in the main menu with a bit of biog and, if the people involved will allow it, the translations that have been posted on the old site (possibly with tabs as well).
Is it possible to edit posts as we could on the old site? or will we have to live with our spooling mishtakes?
It should be possible to edit your own posts, I’ll check it out tomorrow as I intend to be working on the site over the festive period.
I see that we are all visitors and novices at that. Will there be a Jake reference later on ie thackling thackerite etc? What is the pupose of the grey bar with red on one end.
There can be a Jake reference if there is the demand. The settings at the moment can be changed if anyone would like to make suggestions. As for the grey bar, I have no idea but I will check it out, it might give an indication of how far til the next ranking.
25 December 2003 at 1:05 am #3319Can everybody let me know how they are getting on with the video clip and the music file as a member has let me know that they can’t see or hear them.

25 December 2003 at 2:35 am #3323Well done. How do i add my photo?
26 December 2003 at 6:54 pm #3325* How can we mark a thread as read, as I dont generally read Brasso (for example), can this function be added ?
* Vid clip opens a new IE window and just sits there for nearly a full minute at 512k broadband downloading, but theres nothing to say what its doing, might put a few folk off waiting. 56k users should be warned of around a 5 to 8 minute wait ! It does work though 🙂
* Cookies set ? I have to keep logging in every time as it dont remember me.
Thats it for now, poss more later 🙂
Keep it up, its shaping up well….
26 December 2003 at 6:56 pm #3326* Avatars keep disappearing, Ive uploaded mine 4 times now.
26 December 2003 at 6:59 pm #3327* Members list page ?? (with protected email addys,) just so we can see who has joined ??
27 December 2003 at 4:44 am #3330Just an observation really.
Just now (20 guests and 2 members on line – haven’t we got any beds to go to???) ( don’t answer that…………) – I clicked to refresh the home page after I’d been away looking to see if any new messages had come in to Topica, and by refreshing the page seemed to assume I’d logged out, yet my name was still showing as online. I did re-login, but wasn’t sure if I was supposed to or not?
I used to like to be able to see what other visitors were looking at when on the site (OK, I’m just nosey), can’t seem to find out how to do that here 🙁
Hello Phil! 🙂
27 December 2003 at 5:31 am #3331Hi Pam,
I have been, with my wife and sons to see my old Morris side perform on their Boxing Day tour today. They occasionally ask me to guest appear in one of the dances- usually one involving hitting sticks. I retired from Morris at the Queens jubilee, no not this one the one before in 1977,! Alot of feminist poltics in Morris in them days. So why do I tell you this? 1) you are still up 2) in those days I regularly went to folk clubs and Jake was more likely to be guest at a folk club as a major venue. I have seen him in both of course.
In the latter days of Jakes career, I saw him at small folk club here in Kent. My sons,pre-teens in those days, experienced jake for the first time and were wetting themselves with laughing at his link material and of course his songs. today one is 31 yrs old and has some Jake Cds and is also a morris dancer.
I am proud of him course. The other son plays a melodeon and turned down the opprtunity to come to the Tramshed. nowt as queer as folk!
Happy Boxmas
Joe27 December 2003 at 5:52 am #3332I will not pretend to know how these things work, I have enough trouble with ordinary tasks on the computer but I was wondering if it would be possible to have a chat room on this site? After all we all need a good excuse to mess around when we should be doing other things.
