Last night’s celebration was everything it promised to be. It was a large very appreciative audience, which included some special guests, not a packed house but that didn’t matter at all. John and friends had an extremely well thought out programme which Jake’s voice opened. Unlike the original 1973 show when Jake was the first half and Georges was the second, this time Rudolf Rocker, a threesome singing and playing lots of George’s songs, and mostly in English, were on for the first half, then John was the second half. The whole event was over much too soon, but it’ll be remembered for a long time.

Yes Pam. I certainly subscribe to each of your sentences about what we all lived together on that 14th November.
And I am certainly among those who are now looking forward to watching the DVD that’s probably going to come out of it !
Moreover, I do think that the superb night we enjoyed already three weeks ago pleads for more tributes to JAKE & GEORGES in this excellent location where Colin and Carol Evans convinced them to give their extraordinary bilingual double concert in 1973.

Got it, watched it and “seen what I thought” … so here it is:A TREAT
For people like us (who had unluckily missed the extraordinary Brassens-Thackray double concert in Cardiff on 28 October 1973) it was a fantastic treat to be at the Sherman Theatre on 14 November 2017.
A treat that can now be enjoyed at home with this most welcome Celebration DVD.
An enduring treat that will no doubt be shared by others who were too young (or maybe not even born !) to attend the 1973 event, whether they were present 44 years later or not.
The DVD of John Watterson, his friends Mark Goodall, Hugh Bradley, Tim Crusher and Bob Fisher’s brilliant performance will indeed be an easily obtained treat for any admirers of Georges or / and Jake, however unlucky (or lucky !) they may have been in 1973 and 2017 …
So, WELL DONE, Fake Thackray !
By the way, wasn’t Jake’s real name … John ? The one his mother always insisted on calling him, even when the whole country knew him as “Jake” ?
