Sorting through some files on my hard drive, discovered I’d recorded myself performing a couple of Jake songs, so I’ve uploaded them to my website as mp3s. I haven’t done them exactly as Jake did, but tried to make them my own style-wise. See what you think.

Nice. I always think that Jake wanted people to interpret his songs themselves. I tend to play some of them as rhythmical strums, rather than attempt to match his amazing picking style. Then again, some need to be backed the same.
What I have found is that audiences appreciate the songs as performances – very necessary since my vocal chords were “whittled down” a bit! This is particularly true of the songs which are basically accompanied, rhyming jokes – The Bantam Cock, The Jolly Captain, The Lodger…….
