As is now the custom – the toast is to our dear Jake’s memory – make sure we are all with glass in hand – shall we say 8pm UK time thats 3pm in New York for me.
26 December 2007 at 3:40 pm #5323You’re quite right,Richard;this really should be a tradition by now. On the basis that one has to think positively, I hope everyone has had a good Christmas and that the New Year will bring some Jake goodies our way. Also, perhaps the forum could be used a bit more regularly as it seems to me to have fallen off a bit in recent times. Anyway,in lieu of "a small port wine" make mine a Carlsberg Special (but ONLY at Christmas you understand:it’s not a beer to be drunk very often!).
24 December 2008 at 3:54 pm #5497It’s never another year already!
8 p.m. it is then.
The toast is "to absent friends". Cheers.24 December 2008 at 11:34 pm #5498Fortunately this year I’ll be in the company of a few Brits ( here in New York ) so Jake will be played at our Christmas party.
The toast is "absent friends"27 February 2009 at 7:24 pm #5516Jake would have been 71 today. I shall raise a glass of Jura in his memory.
25 December 2014 at 7:13 pm #6481Oh no – how did I miss it – I guess because there has been so much material available recently what with the DVD and the awesome French class video, it seems Jake is with us as much as he ever was. Unfortunately yesterday – Christmas Eve would have been the 12th anniversary of our loss. I will have a melancholic toast – a whisky mac of course, to our man and I’m sure others here from around the globe will join me.
“Your rosebuds are numbered
Gather them now for rosebuds’sake.
And if your hands aren’t too encumbered
Gather a bud or two for Jake.”10 January 2015 at 4:28 pm #6485No access to t’interweb at the time, but I was, for once, off shift on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day so I toasted the great man this year with real alcohol! 😉
18 January 2015 at 12:29 pm #6490French class video? Where can we see this? I did try your blog.

🙁24 January 2015 at 9:51 pm #6502Hi Jonathan,
Are you getting the privacy setting message? If so, you’re not on your own!
We’ve had this before, I think.
Gordon, is there a solution?
Thanks
Phil22 December 2015 at 11:27 pm #6627Thirteen years !
THIRTEEN YEARS !!!
Where on earth does time go ?
It’s been mentioned elsewhere but thanks to all those who, through various audio and video releases, have kept Jake’s memory alive after all this time.
Hopefully the next year may see more in the way of “news” : it’s been far too long since anything was published on that particular section of the website.
Anyway, a gentle reminder (if such a thing was needed) to raise a glass to the great man on Thursday (even though he wouldn’t have approved !)25 December 2015 at 12:00 am #6628to Jake: not forgotten.
25 December 2015 at 12:59 am #6629Bottoms up!
