Many years ago I used to listen to a folk programme on BBC Radio Birmingham called Gentlefolk by Norman Wheatley. Very recently I discovered that he now presents “Gentlefolk2″ – ” An internet programme of all kinds of folk music” (http://www.gentlefolk2.co.uk/), with a new hour long programme being posted on the first day of each month. Back then I wrote to Norman a few times with mostly Jake-related topics often in the hope that he would be among the first people to get news of live performances or albums. Last month I sent him an email, he remembered me (is that good or bad I wonder) and in this month’s offering he had a theme of “Family”, so he found a few ways to feature Jake songs, including himself singing Family Tree.
I asked him if he’d come across John Watterson yet; seems he certainly has as he organises a folk club in Warwick and John has been their special guest a couple of times. Happy days!
