In the absence of much else going on (notwithstanding Brexit, Pandemics and Wars) perhaps I should report a health issue. I’ve been advised that I may have Parkinson’s Disease. There’s quite a long story to it, going back three years. I started to develop an occasional tremor to my right hand. To this day it’s more or less the only symptom that I am displaying but the neurologist insisted on telling me that that’s what it is. Perhaps I should seek a second opinion (mind you, it took me three years to get a first opinion !). My G.P. diagnosed “Essential Tremor” (it’s a “thing” , apparently !). Turns out that Julian Fellowes (he of “Downton Abbey” fame) is a sufferer. He describes it as “tiresome and in no way ESSENTIAL !”. Billy Connolly has Parkinson’s. His comment ? “I wish Parkinson had kept it to himself !”.
I was taking some tablets last year : Propranolol. However, the side effects were worse than the problem. They were messing with my head big time. I’ve never been a moody person but I was all over the place. I can live with a shaky hand, even though it is a nuisance.
Anyway, I’m booked in for an MRI scan this Friday (April 1st ! ; seriously !)
I did laugh at this though. My next appointment to see the neurologist came through with the date Thursday 22nd June. I thought , well, clearly not much urgency it being several months ahead. It wasn’t until such time as I was checking my diary and realised a mis match in the date. June 22nd is a Wednesday. Something’s not right here, I thought (to myself , like !). And then I noticed.
My appointment is NEXT YEAR !
