Hi – just joined forum. I’m not a Thackeray fan yet, but I am on the road to being one.

I’d listened to some of his songs about 5 years ago and enjoyed them. Someone at church has reintroduced me to him and I gave him a listen again last night. This time round I thought – wow this is more than just good. Me and my partner are big Morrisey fans and we both soon recognised similarities between the two artists. We thought that it was very probable that Thackeray was an influence – and today (Wikipedia is my friend) I was proven right.

My students have just been complaining that I put Lah-Di-Dah on for the warm-up, but I think they liked it really.

Hello calindreams, welcome aboard. There seem to be quite a few of us within reach of Brum – we’ve even had a Jakefest (have you managed to find out about them yet?) in Sutton Coldfield a couple of years ago, thanks to Neil.

No doubt Malcy will familiarise you with items of interest………….

Thanks for the welcomes. Pam – some woman at church told me about Jakefest – of course I thought she was totally off her rocker, but I wouldn’t have said that to her. (actually, she’s the one who’s recently got me into him).
