Here is an article on, of all apposite things, a Northern Soul website, on Jake, who would have been 80 yesterday.

That’s a great spot, Malcy, thankyou.
It wasn’t until I was reading this article that I realised that I am now the same age as Jake was at his death. Very sobering.

He’ll always be a young(er) man.

Interesting to read that article too, and the photos with credits to “Tish Murtha”; does this mean that we have actually found someone who took some of the most well known photos of Jake? I was not aware of Tish Murtha, (someone else who was taken far too soon apparently), but her daughter is keeping her memory alive with a website.
Someone quite close to me was born in the same year as Jake………..

The late Tish Murtha was a photographer with strong interest in social issues who became friends wiith Jake in the 1970s and, according to her daughter, abxolutely loved him and his work. She took loads of photos of him (as yet unpublished), and lots of them are great. Her daughter kindly gave permission for us to publish some of them in the booklet for John Watterson’s Lost Will album.
