      This morning, in a trailer for a programme on Thursday morning on Radio 4 at 11.30am, called Encore!

      In the trailer somebody – possibly Guy Garvey whose programme it is – said “Jake Thackray had it right when he used to say ‘that was my last song and now I’m going to sing another!’ ”

      The programme is all about encores, surprisingly enough šŸ™‚

        I heard the programme and it was, indeed, Guy Garvey.

          Stuart Maconie (an established Jake fan) talks in the programme about seeing Jake live and doing his plastic encore talking bit. Sadly, they did not play the wonderful recording of Jake talking about encores on the LP Jake Thackray and Songs.

            Though he can be seen doing a fine version of his “encores” routine on the Live at The Unicorn DVD – shipping now from this very site!
