Here are links for a couple of items on Youtube which might
have passed under the radar. One is an audio recording of
Petula Clark and Rod McKuen performing Jake’s “Lah di dah”
on McKuen’s BBC TV show around 1972.
The other is brief evidence of Jake’s acting talents at the end
of a Beryl Reid sketch…
Thanks. The Beryl Reid Show sketch I have seen before, but I did not know of the McKuen and Clark cover version, which I think demonstrates that the song works less well as a duet. Some of the changes to the lyric (particularly the last line) make the song less effective.
