My copy also arrived today. Thanks for all of your hard work to bring this DVD about.

First impressions tends toward the DVD being a realease for ‘hard-core fans’ rather than an staright introduction to Jake, nontheless ‘Our Dog’ is worth the price of admission alone.

I’m really looking forward to savouring this in one go this evening.

          Thanks again to everyone concerned.

All the best for Christmas and 2010.

Have now had an opportunity to enjoy this DVD at one sitting.

            WOW………..

I really don’t have the words to express just how much enjoyment I got from seeing Jake again; very comfortable in his environment, and clearly (IMHO) enjoying the response he was getting from a very lively and responsive audience.

This release will be, I guess, unique, in that the other Beeb recordings are (presumably) edited and rehearsed. What we get here is Jake doing what he did best – to a relatively small “folk club” audience. No second takes – as it was. A priviledge to see it once again.

Don’t know that you’d have to be a “hard core” fan to really enjoy it. I think it will be a real eye opener for those who only saw him on the telly – and a real opportunity for those who didn’t see him live to experience the real Jake.

For any guitarists out there struggling to work out what is going on with the chords (me for one !) this is a real goldmine. Already I’ve been intrigued at some of the chord work, and will definitely get the pause button working over Christmas.

Finally, a huge “Thank you” for all the work that has gone into getting this released.

            Seasonal Greetings to all

My copies arrived yesterday. 🙂 Tried watching it in the DVD player but I couldn’t understand much of what JT was saying/singing. I was very disappointed until I tried it on my laptop; the balance was much better and made it a lot more enjoyable. I’m 17 so, having not had a chance to see him live, it was very nice to see this DVD, and I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you to everyone involved in getting the DVD released. 🙂

Just a note to anyone who finds the sound quality terrible: try a different DVD player or PC. There was a massive improvement for me.

Andrew – sorry to hear about the sound problems. Before the master went to the manufacturers copies were played on a number of different machines from home systems through to laptops to try and ensure that both sound and picture were as good as they can be.

Ian – It’s no problem. It’s probably the fault of the low quality speakers I was using.

Thanks to all concerned – my copy arrived yesterday and played OK in my ancient DVD player. I saw him live in South Wales probably the same year as this recording. Its good to have a visual reference so that I can try to follow what he does on the guitar. A comment at a recent gathering was that it was good that people developed their own interpretations of Jake rather than copied; in my case its because a lot of Jakes playing is b***** difficult and I am forced to simplify it because of sheer lack of skill!

                    Seasons greetings to you all.

I’m reliably informed by my spy in Lapland that Father Christmas has received my copy and is bringing it to me this Friday. 🙂

                        Oh yes

                        Oh Very yes!!!!!

My tale is even more tragic than those of the young.

I am old enough to have seen Jake Live

                        But I didn’t.

Why? because I had never heard of him! Mostly my own fault. I am so gratefull for this. Tonight I watched a Jake concert – something I never thought I’d have the privilege of doing. I just want those responsible for this DVD to know how much I appreciate their efforts. When one considers that this premium quality DVD was wrought from VHS tape probably 20 years old… well the mind boggles – the highest level of tech has been applied with a higher level of skill.

I am so happy – Thank you

                        Thank you

                        Thank you

First of all a BIG thank you to all who have obviously put in a tremendous effort of love to get this out. You know who you are.
Our two copies were received on Friday and we saved viewing until Sunday. Would you believe my two favourite songs were there. I even knew the Jokes that Jake used. They were around when my children were small in the late 60’s to early 70s. Even “Crunch Pies” is based on a joke current about that time. But Jake did it better….. Well we were raising our children about the same time. A very Joyfull Christmas Everybody.

I finally managed between obligatory Christmas stuff to spend the time a release like this deserves. An evening in fact. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Again, very many thanks to all involved who rescued this (dare I say) unique document.

I suspect posterity is very much in your debt.

                              Merry Xmas once again

                              Graham 🙂

My copy just popped through the letterbox this afternoon here in New York. I’m working today so I’ll get a chance to watch it later.

Very many thanks to those who did the dvd.

We’ve been away and it’s the only packet we’ve opened since getting back today ! we guessed what was in it and weren’t disappointed. Took us right back to way back when …

Anyway, thanks again, very much appreciated, and – raising a glass to Jake
