      Hi Rob and Paul

      Yes it is the Savoy

I am performing an evening of Jake’s songs there in October

I understand the passion involved in such a project Rob – but I don’t know where else would be a n appropriate home for the next bust – can’t think of anywhere in Yorkshire particularly, not sure the BBC would want it, doubt the family would want it on a mantlepiece …

Maybe Radio Leeds – Jake did a song for them on their opening night 50 years ago …

      Will keep thinking

      John

          Thanks John and Rob,
I agree it might be a challenge to secure funding for a proper Bronze. Possibly Jake’s old School??? (Teacher or pupil).

Intake is now West Leeds Academy and they have no memory of Jake, so a bust wouldn’t mean anything to them

Hello John and Paul,(Ringo couldn’t make it) I was thinking along the lines of gallery’s, museums, even town parks or public gardens, maybe a zoo(Brother Gorilla) The pub where Jake used to drink, does Monmouth have a Market Square witha quiet corner, or other local landmarks where jake would frequent. I think If I could get some publicity, maybe on Lisa Tarbucks radio programme, as she still plays his songs occasionally, raising some funds, or someone suggesting a site, might happen.

                  Hi Both

The Savoy will shortly have an unveiling of Bust 1 with local press in attendance (I don’t have a date for this yet.

Therefore it would probably be best to avoid Monmouth for the second bust as it would devalue both

I guess that leaves either BBC or somewhere in Yorkshire – maybe somewhere referred to in a song, or BBC Leeds Studios, or ….

Thanks John – we’ll look at the other possibilities.
Rob – could you e-mail me on paul230360@btinternet.com to discuss possibilities for Bust#2 and another potential project?

                    Thanks

                    Paul

Hello Paul and John, good to hear from you again. The sculpt of the second bust is now ready for moulding, which I hope to get underway in the next week or two. I’ve written to a few people and places that I thought might be interested in giving the bust a home. BBC radio Leeds, The Yorkshire Post as apparently Jake used to write a column for them. The Black Swan, which it turns out has been closed to about two years, and Lisa Tarbuck, as she occasionally plays him on her show. I’ve asked her, and Liz Green at radio Leeds to please mention it on their shows, to get suggestions for a suitable site and also try to raise some funds for casting. I haven’t heard back from anyone yet. I’ve had one quote to do the foundry casting and patination, which came in at just under £1000. Paul I’ll email you regarding the other project.

                        Hi Rob,

Many thanks for the update. As John has said before, I think finding a home for Jake#2 might be difficult, but hope you get a response from your enquiries. If not , then I’ll look to raise the personal funds. I’ve just received your mail so will reply directly regarding the alternative project.
                        Best regards

                        Paul
