I have visited the site several times and my only problem is remembering the password.
I went to a few live Jake concerts in the 70’s. One sonf he sang was Job’s Worth – all about the change in people’s character when you put them in uniform.
I have quoted the song and Jake many times over the years. The message is still true today. "Can’t do that – it’s more than my job’s worth"
I would love to get the lyrics. Anybody remember it?
John
15 August 2004 at 4:58 pm #3971Hi John
If the song which you mean goes:
Job’s worth, job’s worth
It’s more than my Job’s worth
I don’t care, rain or snow
Whatever you want the answer’s NO!
I can keep you standing
For years in the queue
And if you don’t like it
You know what you can dothen it’s by Jeremy Taylor. I used to have a copy on an LP which I sold a few month’s ago I’m afraid.
Cheers

You’ve moved me nearer a solution.
It is the lyric I was searching.
Jake sang it really memorably all the same.
Cheers

24 August 2004 at 1:26 am #3976Well Ian – Job well done!
LP arrived and now I have the complete lyric.
Apologies to Jeremy Taylor that I had not heard of him, but my memory can still recall Jake Thackery singing the lyrics. I think the last time I saw Jake thackery was at a gig at Lichfield Rugby Club must have been around 1983/84.
Does anyone else remember it – or have I got a vivid suggestive memory!
Anyway thans again Ian.
Yours satisfied (for now) of Denmark 😆
1 September 2004 at 6:11 pm #3982I met a jobs worth at a gig at the weekend. Wouldn’t let us park to unload our p.a.. Wanted us to play in the lobby not the main function room. We nearly refused to play! Do you know, I think all intolerant people should have their tongues ripped out!!!
Thackray wouldn’t have stood for it! 😉
😉 😉 😉
