Thanks to Gordon’s splendid overhaul of the new site, we can proudly announce that (apart from the new song on the front page and a few more oddities…) .

Getting every Jake song documented in this way is a major achievement in anyone’s book, I reckon. So…

I’d like to thank…

Keith Donovan for his unstinting transcribing of the lyrics from the original recordings

My huge team of Jake Thackray players, too numerous to mention, who have worked out each song without the aid of video footage and any painkillers for the dreaded barre chord cramps

Gordon Tennent for providing such a lavish home for the lyrics and tabs

Microsoft Powerpoint, without which I’d have had to draw the tabs by hand :o)

Well done everyone, for contributing to the most complete repository for Jake Thackray songs ever compiled, which has already proved to be an invaluable aid to learning and enjoying Jake’s work, and will continue to do so as long as the interweb lasts. :o)

as one of the contributers to the tabs (in a small way) I would encourage you to use them as the basis of your own interpretations of the songs. Unless you have hands as big as Jake’s you are unlikely to be able to replicate exactly what he did anyway! Most of us who play the songs play them slightly differently either becasue we transpose them to a key which fits our voice or because we hit upon a way of playing them that we happen to like and stick with it.

Look forward to seeing you give them a crack at a Jakefest one of these days
