In the front page announcement, Ian Watson says these are scheduled for May 2006, yet there is an American seller on netsoundsmusic offering them for sale now.

http://www.netsoundsmusic.com/nsdsii/1/208778919/1/thack/1/1/9999.htmlDoes he really have them already (were they released earlier in the US?), or does "1 in stock" really mean "pre-order at these prices"?

16 March 2006 at 10:12 pm #4786Well, Keith, I’m almost as certain as I can be that this is a bluff (note that the artist is referred to as "Jack" Thackray!). Engineering work was still going on in the studio up to two weeks ago and credits were still being collated at that stage. But I’ll find out from the horse’s mouth and let everyone know.

Ian W17 March 2006 at 1:16 pm #4788Further to my interim reply yesterday to Keith’s revelation about the US claim to availability of the new EMI releases, I now have it direct from the EMI Records man in charge of the project that (I quote): "It’s bollocks!" He tells me that the artwork for the 4-CD set will be signed off next Monday, but that the 2-CD live set hasn’t even gone to the factory yet. He still reckons on release in late April or May. So you’re best advised NOT to go PayPalling to dodgy American sites who say they have "one in stock" – they haven’t.
Cheers, Ian W17 March 2006 at 5:40 pm #4789Thanks for asking the horse, Ian. I shan’t hold my breath then.
Looks as though the seller has just lifted content from Amazon.com, which is showing a release date of 20 April for both. From what you say, there’s an element of optimism in that.
The Play.com site shows a release date of 17 April for both, and has full track listings too. (Play.com’s listed prices include delivery.)

Jake in a Box : The EMI Recordings – 4-CD boxset
Thanks
17 March 2006 at 6:53 pm #4791I am confused about the Live Performance 2CD set. Does it contain any new songs which were not included in the JT Project 2CD set issued in 2002, and will not be in the 4CD boxed set either?
17 March 2006 at 7:29 pm #4792As far as I know, EMI recorded the whole concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall but edited the show down to allow the release of a single album.
I would guess that the new "Live Performance" double CD is the whole show. Other than the double presentation album that Ian Watson has, I don’t think the live songs have ever been released.
The 4-CD set is comprised of studio recordings.

17 March 2006 at 8:40 pm #4793So ….. let me get this right: is there a boxed set of four CD’s AND a double CD about to be launched? It will be a real treat to have the whole of Live Performance! Wow! What will be on Jake in a Box?

Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to all those responsible for this!

Just click on the title of the CD in the first article on the homepage and it should take you to the play.com website, the tracklistings are there.

Not sure how to tell you this, but I still can’t find what I’m supposed to be looking for! Is it something to do with the settings on my computer? Please help!
When is the TV prog coming out?

The links are on the homepage, where the "Jake In A Box" image is.
I’ve added a subtle "CLICK HERE" at the links š
I still don’t have a confirmed date for the TV prog.
18 March 2006 at 12:50 pm #4798Victor’s hour-long TV programme – which is due to be followed immediately by a further half-hour of Jake in live performance – is with the Beeb and ready for scheduling. But for the moment it has not been scheduled: the latest story I’ve heard is April/May. But rest assured, the minute it is scheduled, details will appear here – and no doubt Gordon will stick it up as lead story on the home page. Sit tight: it could be any time!
