Thanks to everyone for making the do at The Mags such fun, and a special thanks to Phil for organising the event. Super venue, super company and great music. Hope that heads aren’t too bad this morning / afternoon…

Paul 🙂What a great evening we had, and what a grand place was the Magazine Hotel – they really looked after us. I’m so glad to have done another minifest in a pub – I think a regular mix of these with bigger, posher events is just the job.
Don’t anybody think, though, that there wasn’t a lot of organising involved this time! As it happens I filed all Phil’s update emails in a single Word file, and they are evidence of a great deal of planning work. Mega thanks for that, Phil, and to everybody who performed for the great delight of the rest of us.

Epic weekend as far as I was concerned – cracking evening, venue, etc, even enjoyed getting stranded in Wallesea
on Sunday due to White Rabbits.Memo – don’t drink the local brew on an empty stomach (Phil will understand this!)

Hi, I’m a virgin in this discussion area. I went to the “do” at Woolwich (Tramshed?) some months ago and really enjoyed it. I will be going to Torrington too.
Last time, I turned up with my guitar, but sadly was not able to play. Would it be possible for me to play a song or two at Torrington? I’m not sure who to talk to (Malcy??).
Anyway, whoever, please let me know. I will occasionally look at this discussion area or, better, my email which is Tony.Cima@honeyend.com.

Glad you enjoyed the Tramfest – it certainly was a good evening.
At Woolwich there was high demand from performers and timing was tight, so there was no scope at all for floor singers – as you saw.
For Torrington the same is almost bound to apply.
Someone will be asking for bids for songs a couple of months before the gig itself. If he’s up for it, I hope that Malcy will do his superb organising trick once again (it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role now). Anyway, I’d advise you to keep an eye open here and / or on Topica for an announcement about a “baggsy” list. If your repertoire is a little limited, you need to get in early: there is some but not much scope for horse-trading.
Looking forward to seeing you there. It’s always a pleasure to see someone new get up and perform.

Thanks for the info. I do half a dozen or so of Jake’s songs and they go down very well in the local folk club.
I ran a Jake Thackray memorial concert in the local pub shortly after he died (coincidentally, and unknown by me, it was on his birthday). A friend of mine (Phil) sang with me. He lives in Devon and may come and play too (if I can convince him).

Tony, where have you been? :unsure: Malcy, please note, there’s a man here who really wants to sing, and I for one really want to hear him (and maybe his friend Phil too) in Devon.
Yes, Tramshed was a brilliant evening, and Torrington promises to be a goodie too 🙂 They’re alright these Jake people 😉

I found a film in the bottom of my camera bag the other day and lo and behold it had some snaps of the Tramshed bash on it. I mention this because one of the snaps is of the lovely Pam Archer :ohmy: (see immediately preceding posting) and is worthy of a caption competition. Watch this (or adjacent) spaces!

Heh, heh, heh! Three photographs are now with the Big Chap featuring several Thackolites of this parish… They ought to appear on this board soonish. 2 snaps are from Tramfest, one is from York (hint: he was a handsome policeman, she was a widow of Bridlington…)
