references to Jake in print

I have just discovered that, now Amazon has digital copies of thousands of books, a search for ‘Jake Thackray’ in Amazon will yield up references to Jake in dozens of quotations from assorted books. Not only that, but in many cases you can go to the actual digital page very easily (and for free). As a consequence you can discover, for example, that Clive James rates ‘The Remembrance’ as the greatest anti-war song ever written.

I obviously have too much time on my hands… :blink:

Couldn’t possibly comment on the “too much time” on your hands, but I have to agree with Clive James.

Wow, what an amazing find! I rather like the reference in British Entertainers: The Astrological Profiles (Flare Astro-profiles) by Frank C. Clifford (Paperback – 5 Jun 2003) which reads:

“A former English teacher, Thackray was a regular on the consumer show On the Braden Beat during the late 60s. An acquired musical taste, he was known for his satirical songs (Scorpio rising) exploring the quirky side of life (the strong Uranian influence: Uranus, on the Descendant, Moon conjunct, Jupiter in Aquarius), and performed in an inimitable deadpan manner.

Seems appropriate that Uranus should have been influencing our Jake doesn’t it?
