There was an interesting 90 minute film on BBC4 last Saturday featuring Rockfield Studios in Monmouth. It turns out that many an influential band had recorded there over the years but most of them were equally impressed with Monmouth’s pubs.
Given our hero’s affiliation with said establishments, I wonder if any of them came to know Jake ?
Just a thought.
HughieJake recorded there himself in the 90s – a version of Our Dog that he did as a private birthday present for his niece I believe, and a remake of Lah di Dah. A snippet of the latter was played on the Cerys Matthews Radio 2 documentary a few years ago with a nice lyrical ad lib – “I’ll bill and coo with your appalling Auntie Brenda…”
