Hello everyone, months ago I booked tickets to see Sister Josephine
without really knowing a great deal about it. Has anyone got any more info
about the show or how the rehearsals are going etc?

        Hello littleswale!

Just about all the information you need about Sister Josephine kicks the habit can be found at http://www.sisterjosephine.co.uk/

Have a browse around there – you can even get the t-shirt! Where are you going to see it?

          Thanks for the info. Pam,
I’m seeing it at the Helmsley Arts Centre on May 28th.
Sort of booked it and then arranged a few days holiday in Yorkshire around it, as its a bit of a way from home.

That’s what we’re doing too! Always promised ourselves we’d try to see more of Yorkshire…………. We’re booked in at the theatre for 24th May, and looking forward to it!

If you’ve had a browse around this site you might have discovered that quite a few of us are planning to go to the last day in Leeds, (inc me – glutton for punishment!) which will be followed by one of the famous – or perhaps infamous? – Jakefests, which are great!

              Hi Everyone,
I live in France and have just heard about this production.
I tried to get on to the link but it didn’t work for me.
Can anyone help as I think it sounds very interesting?
Also sounds like a good opportunity for a little holiday in Yorkshire!

Thanks for any help you can give me,
              David Kemp.

                Hi David

I’m afraid that the last production was a number of years ago now. If you look on YouTube you can find an excerpt from a later production directed by Neil Gore (the Brigadier and musical director for the original production). There was a DVD made of the touring production which some of us have copies of.

                  Hi Paul,
                  Thanks for the reply.
I am very grateful. Im not sure if it was you or someone else who helped me with a copy of the television program Jake on the box, previously.
Either way, I have nothing but praise and thanks for the helpfulness of you guys and gals.

                  David.

                    Hi David,
As you live in France, which is also my case, if you are interested in introducing that great Jake song to your neighbours I can send you the modest adaptation I wrote a few years ago with an mp3 that should help you have a go at it in French.
I think Jake deserves much better fame on the south side of the Channel and and as we froggies tend to be lazy with foreign languages, maybe spreading some sort of idea of what he sang about could make people wish to know more a bout the great man and his superb songs.
Well, if you share that hope just let me have your e.mail address …
                    Best wishes from
                    “the bearded frog”

                      Hello Michel,
Im open to any suggestions regarding Jake’s work and have often tried to translate (with very little success) Jake’s work to certain French friends.
My wife, who is French, but speaks very good English also likes his songs.
Which great Jake song are you refering to by the way, or have you confused me with someone else who lives in France?
                      Best wishes,
                      David.

Sorry, David: you answered very fast but I only noticed it a few minutes ago !
The song I had in mind was the very one that inspired “sister Josephine kicks the habit” a few years ago, so if you are interested in my adaptation … ( by the way, I live in Normandy. Is it far from your own place ? )
                        Best,
                        Michel
