I posed a question on the music forum which has no relevance to music whatsoever, sorry everyone, putting it in the right place now (or is it?)
The thing is, I can’t make the smileys work, or the colour of font (my colour is green in case you hadn’t noticed). I’m using a brand new Dell computer (which is luvverly!!!) and I’m told "boardcode is enabled, HTML is disabled – not that I know what that means……………… (and what’s bbCode as well?)
I love smileys, so this makes me very sad :0(((
Anyway, I’m now a platinum boarder, and catching Judith up with all these posts!!!
I can’t preview them either – nothing happens. Grrr!!!
What software are you using to access this board? Internet Explorer, Netscape, or summat other? Can you tell which version you’re using(try ‘About’ from the ‘Help’ menu)?
It’s Internet explorer.
Am I the only one with this problem? If so should we continue this conversation via email Keith? T’others might be getting a bit bored. Sorry folks!

That worked OK as I typed along. Colour works too. But I too find you can’t go back and insert them in a finished message – they will only pop up at the end. So if I want to do that I copy and cut the rest of the message, put in the smiley, then paste the rest back in.
I’ll finish off with a string now.

Tried that too.
The cursor changes temptingly to a little hand as though it’s all ready to play, and then it tantalisingly does nothing when I click on it.
Same with the preview button – nothing happens, and the cancel button. And the smiley buttons on the "topic icon" line.
Everything ignores me; p’raps I’m invisible!
Just as well really ‘cos I’m likely to get very angry soon…. not a pretty sight!
Going to try a pic, just to see if that will work
well, to get that I’d clicked on where it says "boardcode" and some details are there. The example is how to get red by using all these brackets and things but I don’t know what the codes for other colours are, or for the smileys.
P’raps Gordon can tell me what I have to do to make the board do it for me.

Well, you did get colour text at least.
Try typing in the shorthand and see what happens. EG colon right-bracket; semi-colon right-bracket; colon laugh colon all with no spaces within each set, and you ought to see π π :laugh:
