I trust everyone is attempting to comply with current restrictions and staying healthy. It’s all very troubling. Generally speaking, I’m not a worrier by nature nor inclination. However, all this bad news is disturbing (to say the least). Fortunately we have the great man’s music on cd, vinyl and dvd to cheer us up (in the event that we do start letting it get to us). The “experts” seem concerned, even at this early stage, that peoples’ mental health may well be compromised in the future because of what we’re all having to experience right now. Hopefully it won’t come to that but , as with so many other things, only time will tell.

I’d like to echo the sentiments above – I hope you’re all well, staying well and looking after yourselves and your neighbours.

All well here at Jeffrey Towers, especially now I’ve had a 6-week-long splint taken off my plucking hand so I can pick a guitar up again (put my hand through a window – but all healed now and it can only improve my playing…)

It seems several months since we all checked in so I hope no one minds if I pose the question , is everyone alright ?
We’re currently in a “local lockdown” situation (ie, we can’t leave the confines of our county nor meet up with friends in the pub. If one goes to the pub, alone, one has to wear a face covering except when sitting down so, as a consequence, I’ve stopped going to the pub on the grounds that I’m not THAT desperate for a drink !)
Anyway, perhaps regular contributors (you know who you are) wouldn’t mind posting an update just so we know we’re still all in this together.

All well here too, thanks. I’ve somehow managed to keep making a blog post every day for the last six months which, if nothing else, introduces an element of regularity into the daytime routine.

I haven’t been in a pub since February and the homebrew has run out–I’d make more but other inmates of the house would complain about the smell. We’re fortunate that we have enough house space and garden to make sure we don’t get under each other’s feet or on each other’s nerves, most of the time. And in some respects lockdown is very much like making love to a beautiful woman is very much like retirement life anyway.

Thanks for asking, Hughie, and Hi Everyone. Hope the rest of you are safe and well.
All well in Jeffrey Towers and we’re all Covid-19 Free. Spent the first half of the lockdown recovering from a poking-hand-through-a-window incident, only to follow it up with coming off my bike in traffic, karate-chopping the planet Earth with my fretting hand and breaking my baby finger. Although that’s all healed, my plan to learn and play more songs over the lockdown has been thwarted and I have had to subsist on running, cycling, and grasping the opportunity to take early retirement. My area of the West Midlands is not currently under any extra restrictions, so my Folk Club is back in action with a rule-of-6, finishing-at-10pm compliant number of players. If only I’d had the foresight to shoot some grouse in the club once a week, or put up a Barnard Castle eye testing chart, we could have met whenever and for how long we liked ! Ah well…

Having enquired about everybody and receiving only 3 replies I’m now worrying about everybody else : Pam; Mark Sturdy (my own particular hero !) ; Phil; Busking Bob; Slybynight; sbriddon. etc……
I’ll have to go lie down in a darkened room.

Hello All, it’s clearly been ages since I popped by here; I think it’s less than three months, but things have been happening in my absence……….. Maurice and I are pretty much okay, just older and greyer and everything that goes with that. Anyone here who remembers my sister Cynthia might be interested to know that she’s had Parkinson’s for near enough 20 years, but for the last four she’s needed to live in a care home and no-one is allowed to visit. I used to go at least once every week, now it’s been eight months and it’s hard. It sounds as though her condition is deteriorating which is to be expected with a condition like Parkinson’s but whether it’s happening sooner because of her current situation, well who knows? We were able to go out together now and again, cafes, restaurants, theatre trips, but not any more at the moment.

Interested to read Claire Williams contributions re Tiswas – not something I ever watched but it came from the Midlands and I used to live not far from where the Phantom celebrated his 80th birthday as seen in the newspaper item she linked up to. That clip of Jake being flanned is brilliant though!
