Like many of you, I’m sure, I saw the Jake biog programme on BBC2 last night. Does anyone know if the song ‘The Remembrance’ was ever recorded. I can’t find it on any of the CD or LP playlists. Did I miss it? Wonderful song, particularly resonant at this time of year. Any ideas?

It is not available on CD.The album turns up occasionally on eBay.

I dont have "sky+" so couldnt record anything from Jake on The Box. I saw it, of course, but missed the end (dont ask)….so, I have never actually heard "The Remembrance" but every other fan Ive spoken to raved about it. I suppose that rarity is mouth-watering in itself. I would like to learn more.
I saw Jake Thackray when I was but a boy, in the audience for "Crackerjack" and this lanky chap came on, performed Ulysses and then modestly walked off. I thought then how unique he was and how the music said something about him.

Welcome aboard! The LP ‘Jake Thackray and Songs’ does turn up reasonably regularly on eBay and I would strongly recommend that you get a copy: to my mind it is the best live album, since it contains material from a small theatre gig when Jake was at the height of his powers. The two studio tracks on the album, One of Them and The Remembrance, are both outstanding, and you get The Bull as well! (You can also pick up The Bull as a digital download from http://www.hmvdigital.co.uk.) Give a shout if you need more information.

hi, i recently saw jake thackray tribute act in Edinburgh and loved it.
the guy played The Remembrance and now i want a copy of it – no luck on ebay for a while now.
is there any way someone who has it can put it up as a download on here through http://www.sendspace.com/ or any other website like that?
