Is it possible, and if it is; does anyone know where, to obtain full length videos of Mr Thackray at work. I adore the current cip on the site, just one of Jake’s lovely tasty stories. Super to see him looking so well too, what a monumental loss…………ahh well anyhow, I drone on. If anyone has info I would be grateful

1 April 2004 at 12:16 am #3751Hi Alan
Video (and audio) material is emerging, some of better quality than others. We have a long term aim of identifying what survives and then, we hope, licencing it and releasing it. This is long term due to the need to get hold of the best quality copies which we can and then finding the cash for licencing.
I’m afraid that this is going at a deliberate pace – ie not quickly.
Regards
Ian

6 October 2004 at 8:51 pm #4065I had an email from the guys at http://www.sisterjosephine.com
In the news section, they have posted a couple of pictures of Jake two months before he died. I looked at them and frankly, wish I hadn’t.
It’s not that he looks so terrible (however, he doesn’t look good), it’s just that he’s so different. To be honest, I wouldn’t have recognised him.
On the other hand, there’s a fine picture of McTell, Sheila and others.
Plus, of course, a picture of Jake as I like to remember him.
All the best.

You probably don’t want to see the pics on theYahoo! board in the "Meeting with Jake Oct 17th 2002" folder then. He looks very blokey and old and saggy – not at all like the Jake we’re familiar with from the 70s and 80s. But after you get over the shock, and realise that everyone has to get old, you can see the "old" Jake in the old Jake and see he looks well and happy, and it’s not so bad. (I say that as someone who, at 60, very strongly resents the ravages of time. Recently my knees have been about 80.)
