I used to have a half-bottle of their 4-year-old malt (they’d only been in existence for 5 years at the time !), and very nice it was too ! They’ve probably got an 8 (or even 10 !) year-old by now ?

Er, unless my topography has gone to pot I don’t think Tasie has the southernmost – there’s a distillery down around Dunedin in New Zealand which produces a drinkable malt – or at least I was given a bottle as a Christmas present once and was happy to drink it.

Re, Bruichladdich, although I have to bow to Fiona’s knowledge, from her paternal side, when I was there I was told it was like Broo-ick (soft ‘ck’), but I agree with ‘laddie’. Perhaps there’s a subtle difference not to quibble about? (Pa was Southern shore, not Northern, e.g.!)
As for the quiz, well, I hadn’t taken into account the attempt from my favourite pedant, who has researched this beyond the call of duty. I suppose the answer I was looking for was based on the Bruichladdich’s own marketing, which states it’s on the Northern shore.
Geographically speaking, the Bruichladdich distillery is ESE facing, therefore on the WNW shore; Bowmore is more like NW facing, therefore on the SE shore. Either way, Bruichladdich is the distillery most close to being on the North shore, of the two, and therefore, I claim my rite, as quiz-master and setter, to declare that, I’ve no idea who has won the quiz, and so everyone owes me a whisky!

Where you will clearly see that they sell “Sullivans Cove Single Malt WhisKY” without an ‘e’ !Seems nobody’s told them !
Oh, and if you click the link to the 375ml bottle, you’ll see a picture of the very type of bottle (the black one) that Malcy (amongst others !) helped me to drink !

Ah yes, as a new poster I can see the confusion. Actually I’m a friend of Malcy’s – Bob (one or two of you may have met me at the last couple of Thack-fests ?) ! The ‘R’ in my id, of course, stands for ‘Robert’ (my Sunday-best name !).
I can also see the similarity in my avatar pic (D’oh !), which is actually one taken of ME when I was ‘very, very drunk’ (“Ah yes !”, I can hear you say, “THAT Bob !”) ) at a birthday party in Utrecht. I have lost a couple of stone since then (honest !).

I’m afraid I must cede to my most learned friend on this one. Despite my best effiorts to locate a Falkland Islands distillery !! The Dunedin distillery (“Wilson’s” – apparently New Zealand’s only distillery !) even spells their product without an ‘E’ !
