As someone who does remember Jake from his days on The Braden Beat, I was delighted to catch the BBC4 shows (quite by chance). Until now I had not appreciated what a stunning talent Jake was in his prime. Both lyrically and musically he was a class act. His Brother Gorilla translation of Georges Brassens’ original is simply brilliant. No wonder Jake was recognised as a great talent by the Frenchman himself. I’ll certainly be adding Jake’s music to my collection and hope the Beeb will screen more of his performances.
