This is another fantastic tribute to Jake, dear Paul.
All lovers of his songs and of those of other first quality singer-songwriters – like for instance Tom Lehrer who, sadly, joined his twentieth century peers last month – MUST be encouraged to get hold of your splendid “Playing with Nadine” CD… and listen !Facebook… Facebook…
Well, away from home in August, I thought it could be convenient to connect from my son-in-law’s computer.
I was then asked a multitude of questions, got mixed up with the various “codes” I was asked to produce… until I finally got kicked out of the “Fb community” by the Facebook robots !Thanks Malcy.
Just like DH I’m sad I couldn’t do it but glad it went so well.
And if some of the lucky participants have brought home more feedback, photos and videos they are willing to share with the (unlucky) rest of us… well, I do “vote” for Paul’s above suggestion inviting them to do so !What a fantastic reading, indeed ! (I’ve gone through nearly a fifth of it, so far.)

So, I did manage to get hold of BEWARE of the BULL on the eve of the 35th JOURNÉES Brassens I have mentioned above and am glad to tell you that all the “big Brassens people” I talked about it there sounded very interested.
How about a presence of Paul and John in the Parc Brassens on the 36th “JOURNÉES” in October next year, then ?…

It’s a real pleasure to read your excellent news about Paul and John’s great achievement.
Besides, the announced events due to take place in Monmouth, London, Scarborough and York are quite tempting, of course… but being not sure to cross the Channel before the end of the year I appreciate the idea of putting in requests for “BotB” at one’s usual libraries.
So, I’ll see what some bookshop keepers in my Pays de Caux think of it !You are right, Hugh, about the “unreliable quality” of the day and time mentions regarding the posts and replies recorded on this new version of the JT Website.
The one I sent about Grant Baynham after reading Phil and Pam’s sad news is still there, though (among the “Idle Chit-Chat, Off-Topic” list) – and followed by a couple of sentences I added yesterday on the same subject.
And now, just like you (and many others, I hope), I’m looking forward to the biography of Jake !A bit surprising to find so few reactions on the JT Website to the author of “the Rebecca song”‘s departure for the strange island “described” by John Conolly in his spellbinding “Fiddlers Green” song.

Well, I did manage to “cock up” the French adaptation of it when (just for pleasure !) I felt the urge to record the whole thing again, only a few months ago…I had never heard of Grant Baynham (shame on me !) until I read the sad news recently conveyed by Phil and you, Pam.
So I did a bit of research… and found him playing his guitar and singing “First Kiss”.
Well, I’m pretty sure Jake liked both the song (if it happened to be already written in the last…millennium) and the artist who (having obviously lived the corresponding “story”) did write, compose and share it.

I do feel an enormous strength in those two songs, carried by IRONY (both in words and music) in Georges’ song and the sheer factual horror of contrasted positions (“ABOVE ground”… and right on it) in Jake’s.
Do you know if Ian sings his own version of La guerre de 14-18 or Flanders and Swann’s ?
