This is my first post so apologies if this has been covered more than ‘My Way’…is there any way to get hold of this? Can we petition the BBC for DVD release? Has anyone got it taped?
9 November 2013 at 8:43 pm #6201I see no-one responded. The answers in order are:
1. See the news on the front page of the website
2. see answer 1 above
3. Yes🙂

10 November 2013 at 12:13 am #6203fantastic news! thanks so much for letting me know – means i can discontinue my plans to pay hundreds per contributor copy or steal the BFI tapes!
15 December 2013 at 5:36 pm #6216I am variously delighted and bemused.
Having been “off line” for several weeks (mostly thanks to TalkTalk !) it was with a great deal of delight that I read the news of the long awaited forthcoming release of “Jake Thackray & Songs”
However, I am bemused and perplexed that there would appear to be so little response to the news (unless, of course, everyone else who’s been banging the same drum these last several years has had the same computer problem as me !)
Anyway, speaking personally, I can’t wait. Although I have the series recorded on VHS and transferred it to disc I am so looking forward to seeing it done properly. As I understand it, the fact that the Guest Spots are to be included is a particular bonus. The 2 Pete Scott songs impressed me no end (unlike his album that I bought on the strength of them but , sadly, were not on the record).
Hopefully there will be more enthusiasm when the dvd actually arrives.
Thankyou to everyone who has soldiered on with this over many a long year. I, for one, really appreciate your efforts.15 December 2013 at 6:02 pm #6217I certainly recommend Pete Scott’s two most recent albums, ‘Why sing goodbye songs?’ and ‘Songs to sing and jokes to tell’. He is a highly intelligent songwriter who can be moving, amusing and clever in his writing, and he has his own distinctive style.
I suspect that the lack of reaction to the news of the DVD is down to the fact that the site is less frequented than was once the case, and the Project has been so successful in promoting Jake’s work, getting CDs out etc.
16 December 2013 at 8:14 pm #6218Thanks for that, Paul.
I’ll check them out
(still can’t tell you how excited I am about the dvd………)
:woohoo:16 December 2013 at 8:23 pm #6219Thanks for that Paul

🙁20 January 2014 at 3:39 am #6227Well- just in case you thought there was no-one else out there – can I say that I’m absolutely delighted at the prospect of JT & Songs being released on DVD. I have my rarely opened wallet at the ready!!
Best regards to all who recognise the Genius that is Jake.

25 March 2014 at 4:46 pm #6238Given that we’re now rapidly approaching the end of the first quarter of 2014 and that it was suggested that the long awaited release of the DVD was (hopefully) due in “early 2014”, may I just enquire of those people “in the know” what the latest update is, please ?

Things are progressing very well, but there has been much to do. I now hope that the DVD will be released in the summer. I can promise that it will be worth the wait. 🙂
2 June 2014 at 2:59 pm #6271As it is now June and Summer is here (yeah, right !) surely we’re not going to have to wait too much longer for the much anticipated release of our eponymous hero’s dvd ?

Things are taking a little longer than I had previously suggested because we want to get the thing done properly and the key people working on it are all doing so on a voluntary basis, fitting it in around other commitments (i.e. jobs). So please be patient and rest assured that the end product will be something special. 🙂
3 June 2014 at 5:03 am #6273I for one am very excited and happy to wait as long as it takes.
can you tell us anything about the work that is being done? is it restoration, or compilation of extra materials? no worries if it’s all top secret
