I found a film in the bottom of my camera bag the other day and lo and behold it had some snaps of the Tramshed bash on it. I mention this because one of the snaps is of the lovely Pam Archer  (see immediately preceding posting) and is worthy of a caption competition. Watch this (or adjacent) spaces!

Hi Alan
Video (and audio) material is emerging, some of better quality than others. We have a long term aim of identifying what survives and then, we hope, licencing it and releasing it. This is long term due to the need to get hold of the best quality copies which we can and then finding the cash for licencing.
I’m afraid that this is going at a deliberate pace – ie not quickly.

Sheriff of Glasgow (a judge), told a story
about a criminal who he branded “a fecund liar”,Indeed but you missed the response of the defendant thus:
“You are a fecund liar”
“No ah’m fecun’ not”Also attributed to Sherrif Smith in Hamilton Sherrif Court

Hmm, well, as one who has in the past indulged in the odd
“move along now lads”
on Topica I’m largely unrepentant.
I share Malcy’s regret at a number of aspects of this but I can’t say that the appearance of Project cds on eBay is a total surprise – frankly in some ways it’s a bit of a surprise that it took this long. I can’t say my own position on this issue is one of total ethical purity either – my copy of On Again! On Again! has a “factory sample not for resale” sticker on it and I’ve had the benefit of someone ignoring that. Admitedly the latter does not involve the same underlying sense of some collective boundary having been breached, but the situations are sufficiently similar – on reflection – to temper my original disappointment with a bit of self-awareness.
Mind you, having recently flogged off some vinyl in order to up the quality of the resident guitars in the house, no Jake material was amongst that which went.
I run another site on Topica and have just posted via eMail wwith no difficulties. However if you seal with Topica via the web the recent ‘downtime’ notice which Phil posted might contain your answer – the URL has changed to http://lists.topica.com/
Does this help?
Happy birthday!

(Glenlivet)Er, unless my topography has gone to pot I don’t think Tasie has the southernmost – there’s a distillery down around Dunedin in New Zealand which produces a drinkable malt – or at least I was given a bottle as a Christmas present once and was happy to drink it.
Good idea. It’s not my birthday but what the heck, happy birthday to somebody. Who’s round is it by the way? I’ll have another of whatever it was I just had.

Is there a camp site or a caravan park that would do weekend hires nearby? It strikes me that the local B’n’Bs may well fill up rapidly with Thakoraks
Girls! Girls!
where? where? B)
Actually, the words pretty much fit the tune of Billy Kershaw – although an extra line per verse would be needed…

The idea (which was Ross’s) involves the performing of Jake songs in unusual and ‘extreme’ circumstances. For example when I telephoned Ross the other evening he had to be helped down from having a go on his daughter’s unicycle. Had he been performing a Jake song when atop said unicycle that might be considered unusual and bordering on the extreme. In my case I am considering how I might get a guitar up the next Munro I climb.
The idea is to perform Jake’s songs (as opposed simply to muttering them under your breath when running a marathon for example 😉 ) in a situation which might reasonably be regarded as ‘extreme’ in some plausible sense of the word. We suggest that photographic evidence should be required and these photos should be posted in a place to be agreed – either on this site or on Yahoo.
Happy Jakeing!
Judith
The list is not complete: another appearance was identified only this week (complete with two new verses to Ladies’ Basic Freedoms Polka). We have yet to investigate the radio archives properly…
